Golf in the Allgäu
Playing golf reduces stress
Green and greens in abundance. Paradisiacal prospects for golfers and those who wish to try out this concentration-boosting sport.
21 highly varied golf courses, from those easily accessible to the general public to those at a jaw-droppingly high altitude, numerous golf schools and driving ranges, practice and putting greens in the Allgäu ensure a beautiful game for all the senses, in front of a royal backdrop with cultural views and with breath-taking mountain panoramas. You can tank up with strength and tranquillity on the well-maintained fairways and the speedy greens of the easily accessible 9 and 18-hole courses. The maximum game in the golf resort is with 18 + 18 + 9 holes. Teeing off at all levels of difficulty, whether from the highest tee at an altitude of 1,011 metres altitude or from Germany’s most southerly point. Between the two, plentiful unspoilt nature, meadows, woods and streams everywhere - ideal expanses of concentration for many healthy and successful games. And should the hobby become a passion, the Allgäu also has the ideal recipe. Throughout the entire holiday region there are just as many easy-to-reach courses available. This means that there is always another charming course left for your next visit.
The special characteristic of the Allgäu golfing region is the close proximity of the courses. Fifteen further courses within a radius of approximately one hour by car between Lake Constance and the highest tee-off in Germany in Waldegg-Wiggensbach guarantee an unforgettable golfing experience, beautiful Alpine scenery and the cowbells which are so typical for the Allgäu Alpine summer.
Golfing in the Hoerner villages…
You chip off with a view up to the Allgäu Alpine peaks in a scenically wonderful location– a truly “holistic” experience for body and senses.
The new combined joint golf resort of Sonnenalp-Oberallgäu offers you hitherto unimagined possibilities. The whole area includes a new 18-hole course (par 72) next to the 9-hole short course as well as the already existing 18-hole Sonnenalp course, offering a total of 45 playable holes.
The Hörner villages course which can be played for the first time this season satisfies the most exacting demands and stirs golfers’ blood. The 18-hole course embedded in the sun plateau of the Upper Allgäu is a real gem with its clubhouse, driving range and additional 9-hole short course. Situated amidst the idyllic Hörner villages with pretty farmhouses nearby, the surroundings also offer experiences unique to the Allgäu.
Golfing in Oberstaufen…
The most beautiful golf courses in the world stand out not for their greens but for their location and the landscape in which they nestle. Oberstaufen with its three golf courses can therefore count itself amongst the crème de la crème in international golf and is the central starting point for a golfing holiday in the Allgäu.
Situated in the Germany/ Austria/ Swiss border triangle between 691 and 1833 metres above sea level, the location is at the heart of the Allgäu golfing region and offers golfing pleasure amidst wonderful Alpine scenery not far from Lake Constance.
The Oberstaufen-Steibis golf club’s 18-hole course is situated in an extraordinarily picturesque high valley at 800m above sea level. At the foot of the Hochgrat mountain, Nature has created the ideal conditions for a scenically unique golf experience: Biotopes, cliffs, springs and old trees produce a unique panorama which occasionally distracts even experienced golfers from their putting.
The Golf Club Oberstaufen in Buflings, extended from 9 to 18 holes in July 2007, just one kilometre from the centre of Oberstaufen, is open to the general public. No fee is charged for the use of the generous practice facilities including a driving range, putting green, chipping green, pitching green and practice bunker. The teeing grounds are roofed over and starting times are not required.
Also equipped with 18 holes is the 57 hectare Golf Park in the neighbouring Austrian community of Riefensberg. The charming variety with very subtly inserted natural obstacles and efficient lane management make the Golf park Bregenzerwald a perpetually new experience.
